The Wine Advocate - Luis Gutiérrez - 12 Feb 2026 - Ca'n Verdura Viticultores - Supernova Negre 2024 - 93+/100 - $30 - 2025-2030
With its strawberry and spice notes, the very young and aromatic 2024 Supernova Mantonegro made me think of a red Burgundy. It comes from head-pruned vineyards on the red clay and limestone soils called call vermell, from 13 different plots ranging between 35 and 50 years of age, which is different from the previous vintages, as they lost some old vines but got some new younger ones. It fermented by plot, in different ways and materials, always trying to preserve the freshness, and it matured in 500-liter barrels and 2,000- and 3,000-liter troncoconic oak vats for eight months. It has less ripeness and alcohol (13.5%) than 2023, with a pH of 3.6 and 4.7 grams of acidity, and it's fresher and has better balance. It has a medium-bodied palate and very fine, slightly chalky tannins and is more elegant. 17,000 bottles and 720 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2025.
