James Suckling - August 2, 2018 - Teso la Monja Toro Romanico 2016 - 93/10
Brambly wild-raspberry and smoky, stony aromas lead to a rich and juicy core of plump, flavorsome red and dark plums on the palate. Great depth. Energetic Toro here! Drink or hold.

I also got to taste the 2016 Románico in the same sitting as the 2015, which is always a good opportunity to compare both vintages. 2016 was a slow and cool harvest following some rains, and this wine has slightly lower alcohol and more freshness. This has more definition, more finesse and a subtle touch of fennel and aromatic herbs that adds an extra dimension to it. It's still young but already approachable (better with food), with a juicy palate and really fine tannins. There is good ripeness without excess. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2018.
