The Wine Advocate - 01th May 2025 - Luis Gutiérrez - Gramona III Lustros 2017 - 94/100 - $63 - 2026-2030
The 2017 III Lustros Brut Nature was produced with 41% Xarel.lo, 39% Macabeo and 20% Parellada, and the three varieties reached ripeness at the same time, which is unusual. It was a very dry year, with only 372 liters of rain, and had warmer average temperatures. This refermented in a cork-closed bottle, where it matured with lees for 89 months. It's toasty and smoky, balsamic and Mediterranean, more evolved in the context of some magnums from other wines. It was a warm year and a quick harvest. The grapes were concentrated, but they also gave the wine acidity and nerve that should get polished with some time in bottle. They are going for less autolysis and more freshness. 54,000 bottles produced. It was disgorged in October 2025.
