The Wine Advocate # 232 - 31st Aug 2017 - Luis Gutiérrez - 2015 Zárate Albariño El Palomar - 2017-2025 - $37
Produced with the grapes around Eulogio Pomares' house and Zárate's vineyard, the 2015 Albariño El Palomar was just phenomenal. Even though it's in a well-seasoned, neutral 2,200-liter oak vat, where it also underwent malolactic (yes, it's full malolactic!) and was kept with lees until just before the next harvest, there are no traces of oak, no lactic hints and no heaviness or lack of freshness. So, those looking for a formula can start thinking about it again. I found some restraint, subtleness and strong minerality. The finish is long, fresh and salty. I found it superb. 2,600 bottles were filled in November 2016.

James Suckling - July 24, 2017 - Zárate Albariño El Palomar 2015 - 93/100
A very focused, powerful and chiseled albariño with a citrus and green apple core, and dried flowers and hazelnuts. The palate has intense acid drive, really focused and piercing. Drink now.
