Bodegas La Horra ist das neue Projekt der berühmten Rioja-Kellerei Roda, das man in La Horra (Burgos), einer der besten Lagen der Ribera del Duero angesiedelt hat. Dort hat man lokale Winzer unter Vertrag genommen, die 40 Hektar Rebfläche (darunter viel ältere und alte Reben) unter der Leitung von Roda bewirtschaften und dafür einen Anteil von 10 % an der neuen Gesellschaft erhalten. Im Jahrgang 2009 wurden 90.000 Flaschen Corimbo und Corimbo I hergestellt, die ex-cellar schnell ausverkauft waren.
Die Trauben für den Corimbo 2009 werden aus 20-40 Jahre alten Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) Rebstöcken erzeugt. Die Weinlese fand unter perfekten Bedingungen zwischen dem 2. und 14. Oktober 2009 statt. Die Fermentation findet in großen Holzfudern und Edelstahltanks statt. Der Ausbau erfolgt 14 Monate, zu 80 % in französischen Fässern und zu 20 % in amerikanischen Fässern.

The 2009 Corimbo I borders on black in color with a loaded, plush presence on the palate. It conceals plenty of tannin and is likely to require 6-8 years of cellaring upon release. These are impressive debut wines from a great vintage. (Not yet released) Bodegas Roda is one of the quality leaders in Rioja. They have embarked on a couple of new projects, the first being the production of an entry-level Rioja named Sela. The second new Roda project is the development of two wines from Ribera del Duero made from 100% Tempranillo. Both 2009s were barrel samples but impressive nevertheless.

Inky ruby. Highly expressive aromas of red- and blackcurrant, cherry-cola, vanillin oak and potpourri, with an intense spiciness adding lift. Penetrating and precise, with energetic, oak-spiced black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that stain the palate. Fine-grained tannins add grip and structure to the very long, sappy, focused finish. Offers a striking interplay of power and vivacity.
