Rumbo al Norte 2013 Magnum

Rumbo al Norte 2013 entstand durch die Zusammenarbeit dreier Önologen, die rund um Madrid in Ihren eigenen Kellereien sehr profilierte Weine herstellen. Die Kooperation nennt sich Comando G und besteht aus Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi von Bodegas Jiménez-Landi, Fernando García von Bodegas Marañones und Marc Isart von Bodegas Bernabeleva. Mit 98/100 Punkten ist er der höchstbewertetete unter 118 Weinen der Sierra de Gredos - Verkostung des Wine Advocate im März 2015.

Weinbereitung
Der Most wird in offenen Barriques vergoren und kommt nach der Fermentation für 12 Monate in ein 700 L Fuder und ein 500 L Fass aus französischer Eiche.

Let me get this out as soon as possible: the 2013 Rumbo Al Norte might very well be the best wine ever produced by Comando G (so far). Tremendously austere and mineral, the tactile sensation is akin to licking granite. And you might remember how coarse and cold granite is... This is simply superb. This is only 0.3 hectares of 70-year-old vines in the village of Navarrevisca in Avila, at some 1,200 meters altitude. They had snow here in 2013, so they lost half of the fruit. The nose is terribly complex and subtle; it's there but you really need to pull it out. It was also initially reductive, but that reduction should disappear with some time in bottle, or if not, decant it in advance. The palate is light but powerful, austere and mineral, as well as soil-driven. I'd say there's no fruit here, this is like liquid granite. This was raised in a single 600-liter oak barrel that was transferred into 800 bottles on April 23, 2015. This is word-class wherever you look at it from.
