Der Termanthia - seit dem Jahrgang 2000 die Nr. 1 in Toro - stammt von einem eigenen Weinberg "Teso los Carriles" in der Ortschaft Argujillo (Zamora). Die Anbaufläche umfasst 4,78 Ha, liegt auf 800 m Meereshöhe und wurde in der 2. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts angelegt.
Rebsorte ist zu 100 % Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo). Die Ausbeute pro Ha. liegt bei 7,5 Hl.
Die Weinlese erfolgt manuell in Kisten unter strenger Auswahl der besten Trauben.
Ausbau 16 Monate in neuer französischer Eiche, Umfüllung alle 4 Monate.
Auflage: 4000 Flaschen.

A Toro on steroids, the 2002 Termanthia emerges from a high altitude (2,625 feet), old vine Tempranillo vineyard that produced only one half ton of fruit per acre. Sadly, there are less than 125 cases produced. Its deep saturated ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet nose of smoke, melted licorice, white chocolate, creme de cassis, and kirsch liqueur. Full-bodied and dense, with sweet tannin, copious glycerin and body, and a long, heady, seamless, potent finish, it is a candidate for the Toro of the vintage. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Big and beautiful. This wine has the power and ripeness typical of Toro, but adds a polish and elegance rare for the region. The expressive ripe blackberry and cassis fruit flavors are framed by coffee, mineral and floral notes and supported by ripe, firm yet supple tannins. Drink now through 2020. 125 cases imported.
